ZAY LOST HIS FIRST TOOTH!

I seriously can't believe how fast Isaiah is growing.  Started kindergarten.....sniff sniff.........started sports.......whimper........lost his first tooth......wipes tear rolling down cheek!  I swear he is aging at lightning speed while I have managed to stay 29 for going on 6 years.  What gives!

Isaiah first loose tooth seemed loose for forever.  Loose teeth make me gag and pulling them can make me gag to the point of vomiting.  That is just so gross!  This tooth was really really loose and bending forward...gag....gag.....I mean literally hanging by a thread of whatever teeth hang by....gag!  He came to show me one evening and well truthfully I gagged then told him to show Daddy.  He went to show Daddy and well panicked.  Daddy's hand came up as though he might pull the tooth.  Hubs reassured him he just wanted to feel it and he did.  Isaiah went screaming down the hall, "DON'T TOUCH IT!  I DON'T WANT YOU TO PULL IT!"  He went running into the bathroom and while he was gone Hubs just smiled at me from the couch holding the tooth between his two fingers.

Isaiah comes storming back into the living room saying, "Hey Daddy, did you pull my tooth because I think I really lost it and I can't find it?!?"  He was shocked as was I that it did not hurt when Hubs pulled it and he did not cry!  Serious milestone since the kid cries over EVERY. SINGLE. LITTLE. TINY. MINUTE. THING!  UGH!  Love the boy but seriously he is a cry baby such a joy! Hubs was just shocked he got it on the first try and without any tears, blood or serious Toys R Us bribing like he did when Elijah lost his first tooth.  Then we get to the part where he calls everyone in the family to alert them of his lost tooth and the whole story mainly to stall the whole bedtime routine.  Bedtime routines will probably be the death of me if the morning routine doesn't kill me first! Oh the joys of motherhood!  Papa alerted Zay to the fact that Elijah got $10 from the toothfairy when he lost his first tooth so of course I had to roundup $10.....thankyouverymuchDad!

So after putting him to bed about five times I finally told him, "You better get to bed or the toothfairy can't come."

He replied with, "Leave the light on!  Daddy will you lay with me?"

I questioned his reason for wanting the light on and wanting Daddy to lay with him and he answered with,
"I don't want some strange person coming into my room, reaching under my pillow and stealing my tooth!  That is scary!"

ISAIAH LOVES ENERGY

When Elijah was in first grade, his friend was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes actually his friend who I will call "P" was diagnosed just a month or two before Hubs.  Anywho......our two families have grown to love each other but when your boys' are on the same teams for two sports plus are in the same class at school you spend soooooo much time together and we just can't help it.  We are pretty lovable!  Why do I go off on things that have nothing to do with the current topic?

So......Mindy has to carry P's glucometer, snacks, juices and energy.  Yep you read that correctly she carries his energy in a bottle.  Actually they are glucose tablets but she affectionately named them "energy".  She hands energy out to the other kids when asked since basically they taste just like sugar.  Isaiah loves energy.  And as though he doesn't have enough of it, Mindy gives it to him at practices.

The other day Isaiah comes in my room.  He plops up on my bed and starts kissing me.
He says, "oh thank you Mommy for buying energy like Mindy!"

I was a little lost until I saw the bottle of TUMS sitting on my dresser.  Tums......glucose tabs......well they look a little alike except the size, overall purpose and well taste but who cares he totally appreciated the gesture even if it wasn't really true!  I guess I will hide the TUMS now although I am sure after eating one he will realize it is not energy!

PORKS, OF COURSE!

Elijah is still obsessed with all things nature and history.  He still watches National Geographic, Discovery Channel, the History channel and Animal Planet like they are all that is on but I am just fine with that.  His new thing is to find random facts then tell us all as if he has THE most important thing to say.

A few weeks ago he comes running down the hallway screaming my name.  Of course, I run to him since he was screaming as though he lost a limb and this is the mini fact convo we had:

Elijah, "Mom, did you know that makeup is made of 50% pork oil?"

Moi, "No!  Did you know mascara is made of bat poop?"

I won!  He was grossed out and speechless!  Not really sure if mine was fact or myth but frankly I don't care since I am a mascara addict and will continue the use even if it means I am obsessed with rubbing bat poop all over my eyelashes!

Then......

Elijah went to his friend's house the other day.  Elijah decides he is going to "freak out" Mindy, his friend's mom, and shares his little fact.

Elijah, "Did you know the makeup you wear is 50% pork oil?

Mindy, "No, I didn't know that but do you know where pork oil comes from?"

Elijah, "Of course..... PORKS!"

NOW in my sons defense....he doesn't eat "pork" remember so he doesn't realize pork is from pigs!  I am surprised he didn't answer with chicken!  EVERY meat is chicken in my boys' worlds!  If I make beef, pork chops, roast or ribs and called them by their actual names, then my kiddos would turn their little noses and say they don't like it.  Soooooo when Elijah was little I just renamed ALL meat to chicken.  My kids could be eating country style boneless pork ribs and say, "Oooo momma these chicken ribs are good!"  If I said I was making "country style boneless pork ribs" it would be a war to get them to try them so I only make chicken pork chops etc....wink*wink*

Oh how I love my funny fact finder boy!

THE OLDIES?

So we got a new radio station in town called GenX radio.  GenX plays mostly 90s music and I love it!  I know every word to almost every song and boy can I sing along.  Makes me feel young again.  I can hear a song and tell you what I was doing in either high school or college.  Takes me back!

One day I was singing along and Elijah says, "Hey Mom, is this the oldies?"

Wow!

Really?

Hmm....doing the calculations in my head I had nothing to say other than, "Well yes I guess so!"  Can it be that songs from my youth are now considered oldies by kids?  How sad is that!

Sooooo....the next day I am telling the young bucks at work about Elijah's comment.  One chimes in with, "Wow I was 10 when that music played!"  The other chimes in with, "I was 6!"

Seriously?

I no longer speak to them about my youth!

MY BOY.....THE UNITED NATIONS!

So Elijah's teacher has been reading the Indian in the Cupboard series in class and he is OBSESSED.  She says he sits intently waiting with baited breath for each word.  He is now OBSESSED with Indians.  I swear to you we have a conversation over Indians daily now.....in the car, in the house, before bed when we too are reading a book from the series together, at Meme's, on the ride home from basketball....you get the pic....OBSESSED.  The boy has even made two of his very own bow and arrow sets from sticks and dental floss which surprisingly work quite well.  He chops down branches from our trees using a hand shovel so he can then make traps and shelters to trap his meal and rest.  He also makes Indian tacos with dirt and leaves from the magnolia tree and has requested an authentic Indian head dress.....you know.....to just wear around the house......specifically a Chief head dress!  He remembers the days when he was younger and we went to Pow Wows with our Native American friends and wants one of those "outfits you know mom that they dance around in"!!  He is on the verge of an identity crisis and wants to start sleeping outside!!

One day on the way home from school during the whole Indian conversation and the revelation he had when I told him Indians no longer live in teepees, he asked if he was Indian.  I told him that he does have Indian in him from Papa's side of the family as well as French on Papa's side and German on Meme's side but couldn't get through to him that it wasn't very much Indian.  To him it didn't matter "how much" just the idea of being Indian was exciting!!  Sure wish it was enough to get on the roll!!  Anyway the excitement was too much for him and the obsession has only grown since.

The next week on our way home from basketball practice he asks, "Mom, how much Indian am I?"  I try to explain the process of how through the generations the percentage of Indian blood decreased but couldn't seem to explain it in a way that he could understand.  He then gets very excited and says, "Wow!  So if I am part Indian, am I part Cowboy too?"  I thought that was the cutest thing ever and chuckled at the thought that he had not quite learned the relationship of the original Cowboy and Indian days.  Instead of crushing his excitement I said, "Yes you are part cowboy too!"  He then says, "Sooooo.....how much cowboy am I?"  My answer, "Ask Papa!"  Very excited with his new found heritage he says, "Mom I am like the United Nations.  I am half black, half carcasian (yes I know that is spelled wrong but that is how he said it!), half German, half French, half Indian and half Cowboy!"  Chuckling I said, "Your fractions mean you are three men rolled into one!"  His response, "Yep!"

I love this kid!

ATWT ~ LOOK AT ME, MOMMY!

Isaiah has been able to dress himself for quite awhile but sometime ago he decided to pick out his own outfit!

He came out and said, "Look at me, Mommy!  I picked out my own clothes!"

He must have seen by the look on my face that I was about to say the outfit did not match because then he promptly added, "See it matches...." while pointing out the blue and orange in both articles.  Of course, I had to tell him how proud I was and tried my hardest not to laugh.

He had a blue, orange and white striped buttoned down shirt with his floral print swim trunks in colors of blue, orange, white, yellow, red and green. The shirt was buttoned wrong.  The sleeves were too short and the pockets of the swim trunks were hanging out
BUT
do you think it stopped him from rocking this outfit and doing some model poses for the cam.....

NOPE!

His serious cover pose!

About to own the catwalk!

Do you also think it stopped him from playing outside in the blessed ensemble?

If you think so, then you do not know this boy!!

5 FUNNY CONVERSATIONS WITH MY BOYS

5. Hubs is always good for a laugh! Yes I laugh at him but once I explain why then he normally laughs too! He was doing something and although I don't remember quite what it was I do remember him saying, "Is this to your saterfication dear?"

What response comes after that but, "MY WHAT?"

Looking at me like I'm an idiot he sounds it out, "SAT-ER-FI-CA-TION!"

Looking totally bewildered I respond with, "I'm sorry baby but I don't think that is a word."

He says, "Are you SATERFIED?"

Of course, now I realized what he was trying to say and respond with non other than LAUGHTER BUT he laughed too once he realized what he had said and how he thought I was an idiot in the moment!! NOW I use it often and by often I mean daily in conversations with him!!

4. Last week while getting ready for Elijah's meet the teacher he storms into the bathroom while I was showering yelling, "MOM I BROKE MY PANTS!"

I said, "Ok I will look at them in a minute. I can't fix them while I am in the shower."

He responds with, "I'll just stick them in a Wal-mart bag so we can drop them off at Meme's. SHE can fix them."

A little offended and determined to be the hero I said, "No just set them on the counter for right now." I hoped it was something minor that I could actually fix!
Luckily, the "broke" part of the pants was just a button. I got out my handy dandy sewing box which only sees the light of day......oh.......NEVER! I had to be the hero remember!! Elijah says, "Mom, how are you going to fix them? You don't have a sew driver!" Sew driver.....isn't that too cute!!

They were amazed with all the finds in the sewing box and in awe of my mad button fixing skills! Phew.....good thing it was just a button!!

3. Sunday morning Zay crawled into bed with us and said, "Momma, my leg armpit hurts."

I said, "Your what hurts?"

He said sounding as if I was stupid, "MY LEG ARMPITS. You know the part behind your knee." Hubs tried to correct him to which I promptly said, "Just let him be four!"

2. Last night while getting Zay out of the tub he says, "Momma are you going to work tomorrow when I go to school."

I answered with "No Baby. Momma lost her job."

Looking sad he said, "Where did you put it? I'll help you find it."

I started to tear up then chuckled and gave him a well deserved hug. He continued with, "Why would you lose your job Mommy? Don't we need work to make money? Why do we need money?"

I said, "Welllll we need money to pay for our house, our cars, food, pet food, water......." when he interrupted with, "and McDonald's Mommy! Don't forget McDonald's!"

#1

Then he became concerned about leaving me alone the next day, "Momma what are you going to do tomorrow while I go back to stool? You will be all alone. Maybe Chaitra tan tome over and watch you. Let's tall her!" (Remember he uses the letter T for the "ka" sound.)

A THOUSAND WORDS THURSDAY

What happens when you go to the zoo in the spring?
WAIT
First to totally understand this post, you must read #1 of THIS POST .
Go ahead I'll wait while you go read!
WAITING
WAITING
Now Sunday we took the boys to the zoo where this occurred

Mating season is in full swing at the black bear exhibit in the Tulsa Zoo.

Isaiah said, "Wook Mommy the bears are fighting!"

Elijah says, "Nooooo Isaiah they are just lazy like my ladybugs and that one needs a piggy back ride!"

My thoughts exactly!!

They just would not stop and we moved on as many adult onlookers covered the eyes of their children who didn't even realize what was happening. So we go into another building. When you come out of the building, you end up walking passed the other side of the black bear cage. Needless to say like most males this black bear was NOT giving up and now they were only a few feet from us.

Elijah says, "Look Mom that bear is still trying to ride the other bear! That is one really lazy bear!"

Yep! Now moving on.....

TOP SECRET AGENTS

At the beginning of last week, I walked into the kitchen to see Hubs, Elijah and Avani rummaging through the kitchen cabinet. When asked what they were looking for, I got a quick "NOTHING!" Elijah then said, "Mom whatever we are looking for has absolutely nothing to do with Mother's Day if that is what you are thinking!" I responded with, "Ok secret agent man!"

A little while later Avani comes to me asking how to make a cake. I said with all my Betty Crocker skills, "You buy a cake mix and read the directions!"

Later I found a list written by Avani and Elijah which read:
Buy cake mix
Follow directions
probably need eggs
maybe some milk
some kind of oil ~ Mommy said so
Other stuff listed on box
decorations

I thought it was adorable!

A few days later I would catch them in their top secret moments to which again I would be told, "Whatever we are talking about has nothing to do with Mother's Day but we can't talk to YOU about it!" Sure!! Then Chai calls saying Avani has been acting weird and saying that her and Elijah are on a top secret mission as a surprise for her and I.

Friday after school Hubs took the boys to get the flowers which at the time I did not know about other than they had been on a separate "mission" and it was TOP SECRET. Isaiah thought this was so cool!

Saturday evening Avani called to talk to Elijah and plans were made. Once everyone was home that evening I reminded Martez about the "cake" mission. He called Avani and detailed the mission. He took them to Wally World where they picked out a cake for each of us then bought us both the same card since "we are so much alike".

Yes I knew they were getting a cake for us!
Yes I had to remind Hubs!
BUT
I don't care because seeing the joy on their faces was worth every bit!
Letting them think we were totally shocked at their ability to complete the "top secret mission" including hiding the cakes and cards until the early morning when they could no longer contain themselves and woke us up even though we both wanted to sleep in was WORTH EVERY SECOND. Isaiah reacted with tears and didn't want me to have the flowers b/c they were a secret! He didn't totally get the whole "she can know now" part and was so upset! He quickly changed emotions since he got to eat in my bed for breakfast!
I love these top secret agents and I love that they are all so close!

5 funny things the kids said this week
5. I go to my Mom's to pick Zay up and smell poop. My Mom babysits two babies and I spend several minutes smelling their hind ends for the source of the smell. My Dad asks if I want to smell his rear too and of course I decline with a gag. I give up. A few minutes later I smell it again and say, "Mom, what in the world smells like poop?"
Isaiah says, "Oh that's me Momma! I pooped in my pants!"
WHAT?
NO!
He says, "Well my teacher was doing the numbers and I didn't want to get in trouble so I just pooped in my pants!"
Needless to say I was very upset since I can't even remember the last time he did something like this consider he will be FOUR YEARS OLD THIS MONTH!!!!!
It was disgusting especially consider he did it about 2 hours before telling anyone!!
Wait, why is this on the list since it really isn't funny!
4. Lately my Dad has picked Zay up from school a few times a week. Yesterday while my Mom was buckling him in my car Zay said, "Meme, papa doesn't know how to buckle me and you really should show him how since you are so good at it!" My Mom laughed and said ok. He said, "No Meme this is serious stuff! He doesn't know how and it takes him FOR-EV-ER!"
3. The other evening Elijah was on the phone with my Dad and of course Zay wanted to talk too. Zay comes to get the phone from me then proceeds to walk into the living room where Elijah and Hubs were watching wholesome family tv or boxing which ever one suits your fancy. He says, "You guys be twiet! I'm on the phone!! HELLLLLLOOOOOO please quit talking I am trying to talk to papa! Could you turn the TV down please?!?!?" Well all I have to say is..........
POT MEET KETTLE!
You KNOW how hard it is to talk to ANYONE on the phone EVER once you have children. They instantly have THE most important thing to tell you and they NEVER EVER SHUT UP!!
Then he talks to my Mom and says, "Hey Meme, if I say I wuv you can you buy me some strawberries!"
2. I was going to the bathroom and discovered there was no toilet paper. I yell for help which Zay promptly replies to. I asked him to get me toilet paper and he left. Several minutes later........"Zay are you getting Mommy toilet paper?" to which he says, "Oh yeah I forgot!" I sat there a few more minutes then said, "Zay could you please hurry and bring me the toilet paper! RUN!" Several more minutes later while contemplating using the hair dryer to just dry off......just kidding......he walks in and says, "MOOOOMMMMMMYYYYY NOW YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT! I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO RUN IN THE HOUSE!" I guess you only run in the house for EVERY OTHER THING YOU DO besides getting me toilet paper because he has NEVER had a problem breaking that rule DAILY!
#1
This one is my favorite!
Boys love bugs.....well mine do!
My boys caught a ton of horny little ladybugs and put them in their bug jar. Seriously, there was a ton of them and they were going at it. Elijah calls while I am getting groceries to tell me they had laid eggs. Great! When I get home, Elijah says while holding the jar in my face, "Mommy, why do they all keep getting on top of each other?" I said, "Hmm, I don't know!" He says, "Let's call Papa! He knows everything!" Well although my Dad does not know everything he does have a creative imagination or let's say the ability to make up crazy lies to children. He called Papa and I couldn't wait to here the answer! The answer was, "Well some ladybugs have a tendency to be lazy and so they just hop on for a piggy back ride!" Elijah said, "Wow then I have some really lazy ladybugs because they are piggy backing all over the bug jar!"

Don't forget you can use the High Five button now!!

HE LIKES TO MOVE IT MOVE IT!!

Last week......wait.....maybe it was the week before......they are all running together nowadays.....anywhoochie(See Shan I could use it daily!)......Isaiah's class did their spring program at school. They do the program for two days in a row since some children don't go everyday. The first day I completely forgot was unable to attend but trust me I heard ALL about it! Apparently, Isaiah and Nick had quite the conversation that was the laugh of the hour. It went a little something like this: Nick said something to which Isaiah said, "Are you talking to me?" said with a Different Strokes type accent then they both kept saying it back and forth since all the parents thought it was hilarious! So glad sad I wasn't there!!

The second day had its moments but much better! Every time Zay has a program it just reminds me of all the differences between him and Elijah. When Elijah went there, he would either just sit there OR do the motions but yawn instead of sing! Nice! So proud! I swear people thought he never went to bed. Isaiah on the other hand is quite the ham ~ imagine that! He loves to be the center of attention and he LOVES music, dancing and playing instruments! Every thing started out good......

He performed his Michael Jackson impression!

Just kidding!
The glove was for some ladybug song which he sang and did all the motions to.....woohoo!

He showed the crowd that he has some "hops" during the bunny song!

THEN......

.........see the little boy sitting next to him? This is his fellow troublemaker Nick. They have a love/hate relationship. They love playing with each other but hate when the other gets more attention. They are great friends and they crack us parents and teacher up. Right before this photo the class was singing a song and smashing plastic plates together which was extremely loud and scared the crap out of a bunch of adults to the beat of the music. They were supposed to walk in a circle one behind the other.

Really?

Did they really expect Nick and Zay to do this without some trouble? I am a true believer that the entire program should be a sit and sing occasion! They were running around in and out of line of children walking in the circle then ran around in the middle of the circle. My reaction, "Whose kid is that?" and hid. The teacher finally stood and put them in line then proceeded to stand in the middle to make sure it didn't start again. They went back to sit on the taped line where Nick and Zay ended up sitting by each other.

BIG MISTAKE!

I thought, "oh this isn't good!"

Isaiah fell to the ground and said, "Oh Nick pushed me!"

Nick replied with, "No I didn't! You pushed me!"

They went back and forth as I am gave him THE LOOK and mouthed for him to zip it!

Then Nick said, "You have no self control Zay!"

His Mom gave him the look and then we had to smile!

It was another POT MEET KETTLE moment!!

5 funny things said to me this week
5. Isaiah dresses himself each morning and other than occasionally putting his shirt on backwards he does a good job. One particular morning his shirt was on backwards AND inside out; however, in a time crunch I decided to fix it once we got to my Mom's house. We got to my Mom's and she noticed his shirt and helped him fix it. About thirty minutes later, he gave all of his good bye kisses and starting running towards the door when I noticed his pants were on backwards. I started laughing and helped him turn them around while asking how he zipped his zipper. Apparently, he didn't unzip or unbutton the pants and just pulled them on. Upon taking his pants off I noticed his underwear were also on backwards. I said, "Is this backwards day at school and Mommy didn't know it?" He said, "No silly I just wanted Lightning Matween on my underwear in the front instead of the back and I wanted the pockets of my shorts in the front!" Ok....and I'm the silly one! Well at least he has a method to his madness.

4. Allergies have taken over my head once again. I swear I can only breathe through my nose about two weeks out of every month.

Two weeks ~ I'm fine!
Two weeks ~ Head is going to explode!
Complaining about my near death due to spontaneous combustion of my head, Hubs says, "Did you take your Walitin?" I reply with, "What?" He looks at me as if I am insane and says, "Your medicine! Walitin or Walitin D!" I said, "You mean Claritin-D?" His answer was concise, "NO YOUR WALITIN-D!" Instantly he went to my little medicine box and pulled out a box of Walgreen's generic Claritin-D appropriately named Walitin-D and says, "See sometimes I know what I am talking about!" My answer, "Yes, you are unless you are talking about your anatomy! So how is your thyroid by the way??"
If you don't get it, then read THIS post!!
3. While dropping Elijah and Avani off at school, I said, "I love you guys! Have a good day!" Avani and Elijah say in unison, "Love you too!" Isaiah who is never to be outdone says, "Well I love you five Mommy and three and four!"
2. While having a phone conversation with his Mother, I hear him say, "Well I would not put up with that and I would say something to them. Why should she have to deal with their ignorance and rudeness?" The conversation continues and I am a bit intrigued to find out what he is talking about. After the call, he proceeds to tell me about his Aunt and how her boyfriends family treats her like crap b/c they don't like her. He goes on and on and on and on and on.......all the while I start laughing. He says, "She should not have to put up with that and if I were her I would say something to call them all out!" My response, "I'll remember that next time your Aunt B, Aunt M, Uncle J, Aunt T, Grandfather, Mother and any one of your million cousins says something to me!" He says, "I don't know why you think they don't like you?" He only sees it IF they say something in FRONT of him which they try not to do; however, if said in front of him or to him, he will defend our honor......well now!! I begin to laugh harder and say, "Are you freaking kidding me? They hate me, treat me and our children like complete strangers and if that is their way of expressing love then the boys and I can most certainly live without their love!" For some odd reason, he believes they all love me (I actually believe he knows the truth but it is denial since it hurts him too) but calling me "the great white hope", telling me I am a real "fata**", asking why I am there and who the h-e- double hockey sticks I am, telling me I married into the wrong family and not coming to my wedding so as not "to see a member of my family marry a white woman b/c you only keep them on the side" and acting like OUR children do not exist...........is not a way of expressing love! So you have it sisters I officially have permission to "no longer put up with it" and "go off"! I'll remember that when he flips out over my expression to his family using my psychosis! Yeah right! Get real! Are you freaking kidding me? Again I say POT MEET KETTLE!
#1
Hubs lost my license. Long story so just go with it!! So after about 6 weeks and tearing our room completely apart and never putting it back together I came to the resolution that I am going to have to go get a new license. UGH! This reminds me I think I posted about this last year........let me go check.........ok I did way back in April of 2007 but it is funny if I do say so myself so if you want to read it is HERE!
Now onto this story and the funny thing that was said or I guess I should say asked! I had to take my birth certificate in and wait for the lady to look me up. She says, "Ok is all the information still the same?"
I answer, "Yes!"
She says, "Are you still at (insert my address)?"
I answer, "Yes!"
She says, "Let me see.....eyes blue....yes......five foot six.......ummm....yes.......weight (insert number too large to reveal on the internet but yet way way less than what I actually weigh),........"
HERE IT IS FOLKS.......
"so do you still weigh (insert weight smaller than even my pre 2 children weight)?"
My thought, "Seriously! You know I don't weigh that so why are you asking me other than too call me a big fat liar! I could so squash you!"
My spoken answer, "YES!"
I get the glance then she says, "oooookkkkkk smile at the camera!"

UH-OH ISAIAH NEEDS ANATOMY 101 TOO!

Just a little bit ago Isaiah got into trouble by jumping on his bed.
He is a repeat offender!
It doesn't matter how many times he falls and hurts himself ~ he is an addict!
After this session he came running into my room saying, "Mommy feel my heart! It is beating weally fast!"
He makes this statement with his hand firmly planted on his belly-button!!
I laughed hysterically just thinking about my Anatomy 101 post!!
If you haven't read it yet, you really should!

TWO CENTS: PROPER ENGLISH

Time for Two Cents Tuesday with Jen over at Tutu's Bliss
Boy am I giving my two cents today!
Although off topic, I definitely have an opinion.
I was talking about this very topic on the phone last night with Shan when I thought "this" could be my two cent topic!!
Proper English

Now I know I do not always speak or type proper English and may to some have a southern drawl with various Okie phrases like "ya'll" thrown in. However, for the most part I speak properly and do NOT butcher the English language.

It drives me nuts!
I correct people all of the time.

I especially hate it when people say, "These ones or those ones"! It is like nails on a chalkboard!! It is "this one, these or those"! Tez says things like "you is, I'm is, mines, yous, I is...". This is not due to his special needs but rather it is due to his Mother and her fluent Ebonics. One of the girls at work TOTALLY butchers English to the point of speaking fluent Redneck. It just irritates the crap out of me! I don't understand why people don't even attempt to speak properly.

Why?

It is not that hard!

I constantly correct people like Tez, the girl at work, Hubs and the boys. I don't want people to think I am psychotic about it. I also don't want people to think my children are less intelligent because they can't form a freaking sentence properly (note: "freaking" is proper).

This brings me to what started my ranting ~ a simple text message!

NOW

I know there is abbreviating involved in texting. I am not an avid "texter"; however, I do abbreviate from time to time even though I must admit it bothers me to do so! I know ~ I'm weird!

This is the text message I received last night from my SIL under a picture of her little girl:

"What it dew? Mi party is diz sat at 3p! C ya there! Holla if yous need directions! Love u!"

SERIOUSLY!

ARE YOU KIDDING?

SHE IS INTELLIGENT ~ SO WHY?

CAN WE SAY GHETTO!!

Let me translate:
"What it dew?" = What's up? How's it going? What are you doing? (Would it have been so hard to type What's up?)
"Mi party is diz sat at 3p!" = My party is this Saturday at 3pm! (Mi and My have the same amount of letters so why don't you just spell it correctly?!?!? And "diz"....really!)

"C ya there" = See you there! (Not bothersome)

"Holla if yous need directions." = Call if you need directions. (Holla and YOUS..good grief)

Now what is so hard about typing "What's up? My party is this sat at 3pm. call for directions"

I used to see annoying things all the time when on his various family members My space pages so I just quit going to them.

"Da" for the. "Dat" for that. "Diz" for this. "Mii" for me. "Mi" for my.

Is it just me or is "ME" actually correct and shorter to type than "mii"?

I just don't get it!

There are people who just don't know and understand.

The ones that annoy me the most are those who have learned proper English but do not care or even attempt to use it!

Some of you may think it is an ethnic or geographical problem BUT I feel it is just pure laziness.
They take the same English classes I took but then they learn their language usage at home. As adults we can choose to speak better at least if we are out in public.

Everyone can!

Back when I used to watch Oprah daily, she had an amazing show with Bill Cosby and Dr. Poussaint. In this show, a Caucasian woman stood to ask about the frequent use of the "n" word and how to explain to her children that it is not a term to be used by "white" people but accepted throughout the African-American youth, the music and film industries. Dr. Poussaint said she needs to be forceful in telling her children what she thinks. "You tell them that it's a vicious, awful, demeaning word that has led to the killing, lynching and the demoralization and feelings of inferiority in black people—and that you can't make that word positive," he says. "It really damages our children. It's damaging all the way through. You should never justify it." Bill Cosby also said, "The same people who preach about Dr. King and his teachings are throwing the word around in normal discussions not realizing the man they hold so high, Martin Luther King, Jr., is probably rolling over in his grave at the disgrace of the black community using the word so freely and making it a cool nickname. That word stands for everything he was fighting against!" I really liked that show but don't know how I went off on that tangent. Probably get some crazy anonymous remarks now ~ oh well! Anyway what I was trying to say about that show is this.....It was brought up how people in the African-American or other minority communities are viewed by their peers as trying to act "white" if they speak correctly. Oprah said something like, "No I am not acting white. I am proud to be African-American. I am just speaking proper English and maybe YOU should try it!" I loved that moment!!

No one speaks correctly ALL OF THE TIME
but an effort would be nice instead of butchering our language without a care!

MY WORLD IN MY KIDS' MINDS!

I stole this meme from Jiggity Jigg who stole it from Dawn's Diversions but due to the cuteness and funny factor I am willing to risk their wrath. Just kidding but you should go read their answers too! I was definitely curious to see what my boys would say. I changed a couple of their questions and added a few. I interviewed Elijah (my 7 yr old son), Tez (my 15 yr old stepson) and Isaiah (My 3 yr old son who says he is 5!)

1. What is something Mom always says to you?

Elijah ~ "No!"

Tez ~ "Don't say your the king!" (Good answer! I hate it when he says that!)

Isaiah ~ "uh....stop..."(SO TRUE!)

2. What makes Mom happy?

Elijah ~ "What? I don't know! Are you going to give this to people? I don't know ~ presents! Wait what does that say? What are you typing? How do you type without looking at letters?"

Tez ~ "Daddy" (Aww, how sweet is that! At least he can tell we love each other and I am proud of that!)

Isaiah ~ "the heartwing" (Needless to say he was very frustrated since I had no clue what he was saying! He had to go get the ring he gave me for Valentine's......Yes baby this makes me very happy!!)

3. What makes Mom sad?

Elijah ~ "when I get in trouble"

Tez ~ "when I lie" (he lied constantly when he first came to live with us and I hated it ~ needless to say he had Irish Spring breath for some time!)

4. How does your Mom make you laugh?

Elijah ~ "funny things and tickling me"

Tez ~ "umm.....scaring me" (I laugh just thinking about it! I hide sometimes when I know he is about to walk by then I jump out to scare him. It cracks me up! You would think he would catch on by now but no and until then I will keep on doing it! I wish you could see his face each time!)

Isaiah ~ "tickling"

5. What was your Mom like as a child?

Elijah ~ "uh, uh, ..........." **several minutes of silence**........"you were....why are typing that when I didn't say anything...........you were.....uh.....a farmer" (Well sort of for awhile)

Elijah ~ "33" (he's a genius!)

Tez ~ "32....oops well I was close"

Isaiah ~ "65....I don't know " (He is beginning to get nervous and not wanting to play along like a wrong answer will send him to bed! It's okay baby boy!)

7. How tall is your Mom?

Elijah ~ "I don't know! 100 feet"

Me ~ "Well if YOU are 4 feet now how tall am I?"

Elijah ~ thinking ensues....."wait if I'm 4 feet tall then you are just 20 feet tall"

Tez ~ "umm.....6'2"......wait nooo....." (me laughing hysterically)......"5' 20" wait no 5'9""

Isaiah ~ "uh this big" {insert arms stretched out about a foot}

8. What is her favorite thing to do?

Elijah ~ "sleep....."(me: besides that)......."getting on the computer" (This kind of annoyed me since YES I love to sleep but I never do it so it made me seem lazy which I am not!)

Tez ~ "make a scrapbook"

Isaiah ~ "doing homework " (Um....NO!)

9. What does your Mom do when you're not around?

Elijah ~ "you work"

Tez ~ "scrapbook, work"

Isaiah ~ "go to bed" (I wish!)

10. If your Mom becomes famous, what will it be for?

Elijah ~ "a mom aaaannnnndddd rich and wait that's not it......"**then nothing but silence**

Tez ~ "scrapbooking"

Isaiah ~ "going to work"

11. What is your Mom really good at?

Elijah ~ "working, really good at working, taking care of your kids"

Tez ~ "scrapbooking" {Insert me bopping him on the back of the head in hopes of getting a different answer since his last four answers have been scrapbooking!)

Isaiah ~ "good at racing" (I do love to drive!)

12. What is your Mom not very good at?

Elijah ~ "this one is kinda hard......don't write what I say....hmm....."(silence probably b/c I am good at everything ~ love it!)

Tez ~ "skateboarding" (See it worked! And I definitely can't skateboard!)

Isaiah ~ "uh..uh...uh...I don't know" (He looks like these are life and death questions and he is sad!)

13.What is your Mom's favorite food?

I totally thought they would nail this question! Boy was I wrong!

Elijah ~ "Subway" (No!)
Tez interrupts~ "don't say chicken"
Elijah ~ ".....i don't know.....taquitos, salads" (NO and NO)

Tez ~ "vegetables.....have you ever tasted quesadillas.....salads" (NO, yes and NO!)

I can't believe they don't know this!

Isaiah ~ "uh..uh...rolls"

14.What makes you proud of your Mom?

Elijah ~ "being my Mom" (This almost made me cry!)

Tez ~ "that you love me and care for me" (Wow! He does see it!)

Elijah ~"were both humans"

Tez ~ "we both cheer Elijah on when he plays sports"

Isaiah ~ "uh....I love you "

18. How are you and your Mom different?

Elijah ~ " I'm not white!" (OHHHH SHAN! You know this hit a nerve! BOY you are half white! Just because your outer appearance is brown does not give you the right to deny that your Momma carried you for nine months!! Ugh! Ok so I did not say all this to him but it urks me.....don't even get me started because then I will have to talk about Obama!!)

Tez ~ "I'm not white!" (True!)

Isaiah ~ almost in tears but he will not quit no matter how many times I tell him he doesn't have to finish says, "I don't know Momma! I just so tired!"

19. How do you know your Mom loves you?

Elijah ~ "you care about me and you do fun things with me and you mostly say yes"

Tez ~ "his looks and he's charming and he's funny....sometimes....well maybe but you are definitely funnier" (love it!)

Isaiah ~ "that you fight"

Me ~ "We don't fight!"

Isaiah ~ "Yes you do! You fight all the time!"

Me ~ "No we do not....tell Mommy what you are talking about" (I'm thinking what in the world is he talking about b/c honestly we hardly EVER argue and I don't want him telling people this!"

Isaiah ~ "well then why does Daddy spank your butt all the time Mommy. He is always spanking your butt!"

Me ~ LAUGHING HYSTERICALLY!! Trying to come up with a proper explanation for why Hubs always smacks me on the butt......not coming.....

Tez ~ Smirking, laughing and embarrassed

Me ~ "Dear, you need to come explain to your son that you smacking me on the butt is not fighting!"

Hubs ~ "oops but at least he realizes you like it about me!"

21. Where is your Mom's favorite place to go?

Elijah ~ "to the mall and shop and Wal-mart and come home"

Tez ~ "I think Target. I don't know maybe"

Elijah ~ "she doesn't go to Target any more so you are talking about the old days and you are going to upset her" (he knows I miss Target!)

Elijah ~ "yeah I like pizza and let me think man why do you...ugh...don't write anymore...chicken"

Tez ~ "I just keep thinking this is really a will! Yeah, I like chicken, pizza, corn and the biscuits and mashed potatoes"

Warning: A wrong answer to this question could lead to severe and prolonged periods of boredom and seclusion!

All three ~ "yes"

Since I had so much fun questioning my boys and kids in general crack me up, I have decided to add a Mr. Linky to all of you that participate! I would love to read your answers. So ask away and link up! You can change or add questions if you like because there are no rules or tags!!

ZAY'S ADDICTION FOR HIS QT!

Happy Valentine's Day!
Better late than never!
Zay just loves my friend Shan's little girl Quinlynne who will be called Q in this post. He loves her even though she tattles when scribbles. He loves her even though she has learned to use her selective listening skills when he won't leave her alone. He is her Diego and she is his Dora. I know Dora and Diego are actually cousins but they don't have a clue! Even though lately they have not seen much of each other, it really doesn't matter in his mind. She is never far away from his thoughts!
Hubs has a mixed CD that he plays in the truck and Isaiah is obsessed with one song. It is Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson doing a remix of The Girl is Mine. Isaiah will listen to it over and over and over again while singing each and every word. Yes we could easily refuse to not put it on repeat but when he sings it well simply put it is just too cute! Elijah asked Zay who he girl is and in total Isaiah fashion he said, "Twinilwynne is my girl!" He can't yet say her name and that too annoys Quinlynne but he does not care. We laugh about them being betrothed and laugh at the torture they will go through once they have children and that my friends is our favorite part!

Oh I must add ~ when the part Paul McCartney says - Now Michael we aren't going to fight about this (or something like that) I like to add "because you know you really like young boys"! Sad but I think it is funny! You can play the song below if you want to hear ~ I just wish you could hear Zay sing it!

JUST KIDDING!
I added like a zillion different music players to this post. Although they all worked and showed up, they would screw up my sidebar each and every time. SO I played with the html for about an hour until I am so ticked off that I am just giving you the link if you want to hear the song I am talking about!

TIDBITS OF IQ

Shandolynne received the latest notice of Elijah's party and I truly wanted Q there since Zay has been feeling like the third wheel with all of Elijah's play dates and sleepovers. Normally the boys play together but when Elijah has a friend over his same age Isaiah tends to feel left out! Boohoo for him! Shan needed to study for her first nursing exam so I said, "Bring her, drop her off at the party then she can come home with us and play with Zay so you can study plus he really misses her!" He really does miss his "dwirlfend" and we haven't seen her in quite some time. She started to cry after the party and she realized her Mommy was not coming to pick her up. Using Shan's tough love approach, I just told her to stop crying and get in the car! HEY it worked b/c she was fine after that!
We went out to eat since none of us had eaten the pizza or cake. Q......that girl is HI-LAR-I-OUS!! FIRST......
This girl can color but I hear it comes to girls quicker with the whole attention to details thing. She is only three and for the most part stays within the lines! I complimented her coloring which led to Zay needed compliments. Really the She heard me complimented his coloring and says, "Ummm it not pwetty! He scribbles!" He was saddened then saddened again each and every time she said, "he is scribbling again!" Yep, she told me over and over so I constantly had to reassure his dwindling toddler male ego!!
Quinlynne successfully learned to ignore Isaiah and to say the least he was NOT pleased. He must have tapped her arm and said, "HEY!" about fifty times before this:
Q calming turned to Zay and placed her hand on his and said, "MY name is not HEY! My name is Quinlynne!" and then slowly she looked him in the eyes and sounded out her name "QUIN-LYNNE!" There was no way anyone could hear or see this and NOT laugh and TRUST me I LAUGHED! The look on the faces of these two three yr olds was priceless ~ hers so sure and confident and his bewildered! Poor boy used a T for all K sounding words so he calls her Twinnen!
Then after Q called my name about 10 times I turned to her and said, "Yea!" She looks at me all serious and said, "Angie we don't say Yea, we say Yes!" Apparently her Grandy had been working with her on this little tidbit and you will be glad to know it sunk in!
We arrived home and I did not see or hear from the two of them for at least two hours when Q comes to me saying, "Angie, I pooped a big poopie in the big potty!" I replied with, "Good girl! Did you wipe your butt?" She quickly says, "No there was no toilet paper so it is in my panties." Nice....into the bathroom we go when I noticed the back of her pants and her shirt was all wet. My first thought was "great she has diarrhea"! Nope! What this girl did was definitely NOT diarrhea! This girl landed the biggest turd in human history. Honestly! I walked into the bathroom to find 3 kids staring in the toilet both grossed out and laughing. Not wanting her to get embarrassed I made them leave BUT when I saw the turd I too was amazed. I have never in ALL OF MY LIFE seen poop this size! UNREAL! I instantly called Shan to tell her and I even took a picture to email to her because I didn't think she would believe how enormous it was! AT LEAST A FOOT LONG plus there were many little ones at the bottom! I called Martez in for a viewing and he too was amazed! This wasn't just a large turd by three yr old standards but by human standards. Our Great Dane didn't even poop that big! She easily lost a good 5 pounds and I was scared to flush it! Although I couldn't spare you the fun of reading this tidbit, I will spare you from viewing the photos no matter how awe inspiring! Well I cleaned her up even though she had attempted to clean herself up first which is why her pants and shirt were soaked with water!
They were TOO cute together but then they always are! Shan and I call them IQ for Isaiah and Quinlynne and they crack us up. He loves her! We kid around that they are betrothed and laugh about them having grand kids for us only to torture themselves with their children's antics! Oh the thought of THEM having kids brings thoughts of SWEET REVENGE! She decided they were going to be Dora and Diego for the day and insisted they be called by those names. One time I had to crack up because he really called her "Woman!" I HATE THAT and quickly corrected him BUT I still had to laugh!

HAVE YOU BEEN TO "FRENCH"?

Elijah is amazed I know French. And by "know" I mean the very little I remember from the 4 yrs. of French I ltook in high school. He constantly wants me to say a phrase in French and I always say "Oh! It is snowing! The snow is 'chic' along the garden!"

Yep I know don't say it ~ highly inspirational!

I really should have taken Spanish since it would actually be useful in Oklahoma alas I was a teenager who knew it all and didn't need her parents input on her electives! Will parents never learn? If you want a teenager to do something, then sway them the opposite way and you will get what you want!!!

Anyway the whole "snow" phrase is highly useful. When said softly in my hubs ears, he believes I am saying something romantic or naughty. When said fast and loud, the children believe I am mad. When asked to speak French, it just makes me appear fluent because I have used it so much I can say it pretty fast.

Do they never realize I use the same phrase in all kinds of situations?
Love it!
SEE I told my parents 4 yrs of French would be useful!!

Yesterday on the way to school Elijah wanted me to showcase my French speaking abilities for Avani....so I did. She said, "WOW!" I know, right! I'm a genius or at least kids seem to think so. Then they wanted to learn French and of course I taught them the highly useful "Il neige" and since it was snowing it WAS useful that day. When they wanted to learn more I taught them Je m'appelle which means my name is. I know ~ mother of the year! It is the cutest thing how amazed Elijah gets when I speak French and by that I mean using the random phrases from years of memorized dialogues to present in front of the class!

We get to my Mom's and the kids tell her the amazing, highly useful phrases I taught them to which my Mom says,

"What in the world are you saying? I can't understand that jibberish!"
(Now you know where I get it!!!)
Elijah responds with, "It's French. MY MOM speaks French!"
My Mom says, "Oh okay! I don't know French"
He says in classical Elijah fashion as serious as can be not realizing why he is funny,
"YOU don't know French! Have you ever been to FRENCH? My Mom has been to FRENCH!"
It was so darn cute and even cuter that he hadn't a clue why we were laughing.

LET'S CALL HIM CRASH!

This morning like always it was a mad dash to the car to pick up Avani AND get Tez to school on time.
Imagine that!
It was much easier in the mornings before Isaiah had his tonsils out. Sure he never really got 'GOOD, DEEP' sleep and he couldn't breath and he snored and........well you get the point BUT he would be awake every morning ready to greet the day.
NOW not so much!
He is healthy, not snoring and sleeping I mean REALLY sleeping.
Sometimes I have to make sure he is still breathing because I can't hear him!
Sad but true!
Now that he is really sleeping he is a booger to get up in the mornings and getting as bad as Elijah.
Yes....hush.....I know....I am the one that told you guys remember......Elijah is just like me. He can stay up for forever and hates to wakeup or should I say he hates to be woken up. If he wakes up on his own, then he is fine. Ok so I hate to be woken up by anyone BUT I do not cry, yell, flip out, scream....that is just plain ridiculous and now I am getting two of them like that....ugh!
Wow I got derailed on this post! Anyway mad dash out the door......
...boys running carrying backpacks, lunch pails with their coats barely hangin' on....
...then it happens!
Like always!
It freaking drives me up a wall........
......Elijah and Isaiah are speed walking down the sidewalk when Isaiah attempts *with racing announcer voices and full blown car noises* to pass Elijah and slams into him.....
...Where does he get this?
The movie CARS!
It drives me insane.
He does it to everyone. Just cuts you off, trips you, makes you fall and just plum makes me want to.......
...Leave that portion out to avoid DHS! lol
So anyway he keeps getting in trouble for this and I am at my wits end. Isaiah was unable to pass Elijah because Elijah slammed right back into him. Go Elijah! Now it sounds rough but Isaiah is a rough and tough kid and he did not fall but he started to scream. My you deserve it attitude loving motherly voice said, "Your all right get in the car please!" while I was thinking "it's about time someone did it to you! How do you like that!?" He is holding himself and crying not like he is hurt physically but like his little world had crashed down upon him. I am thinking "ok I really don't have time for this right now - why can't they just walk to the car and not touch each other" but I say, "Did you get hurt?"
His answer as tears just stream down his face, "Yes! I need to go to the doctor."
A little concerned, "Why where are you hurt?"
Isaiah still crying and obviously VERY upset says,
"E-yi-ya (his version of Elijah) bwoke my heart!"
Aww....so sweet!
Yes it was cute but we all had to laugh and get buckled into the car!
