FUNNY FESTIVALS

FYI: There will be a BIGFOOT FESTIVAL AND CONVENTION near Talihina in October!!
Oh how I laughed at this one! Then I decided to research it a little and in fact there is a Bigfoot Festival and apparently Bigfoot lives in SE Oklahoma in the Kiamichi Mountains. Wow who knew!! LoOLOLOLoL!!!! The Honobia Bigfoot Organization will be hosting the 2nd Annual Honobia Bigfoot Festival on October 3 - 4th. How funny is that! They even have their own blog ...not much to it but still they have a freaking blog!! Wow! I read on just to see what exactly they do at a Bigfoot Festival and well I guess you can read it yourself here. How about those barrel train rides, covered wagon rides, cloggers, 4wheeler bigfoot hunts with the live entertainment and art shows running all day...hehehe.....then of course there is nightly bingo, a bigfoot walk of fame contest and storytelling time to tell tall tales. My favorite has to be the Tomahawk throwing lessons and a rock throwing contest!! Hey I should check into the prize for the rock throwing contest.....I might just take the boys for that! They are rock throwing pros! Doesn't it make you kinda want to go just to see "who really" goes to this thing!?!?

This reminds me of when I was looking at the calendar of events for the Convention Center last spring. I had decided we were going to try to go to all kinds of shows, festivals, town fairs and so on like I did when I was little. I couldn't wait for the Porter Peach Festival and the Stillwell Strawberry Festival and then somehow I missed both - go figure! Anyway I wanted to see what they would have at the convention center when I came across THE Oklahoma Funeral Home Directors Association Convention held annually in April. As soon as I came across this I thought, "Wow I bet they are a LIVELY bunch!" at the time I didn't realize how funny the thought was! Really what do you do at a Funeral Home Directors Convention look at new casket models, talk about new embalming techniques, cremation stories or just sit around talking about the deceased. Wow what a bundle of fun! I sure want to go there EVERY year. Bet it will take your mood 6ft under real quick! I know someone has to do that job but really how could you WANT that job!

ROCKETS OVER RHEMA

It's that time of year again - the 4th of July! For the past three maybe four years we have gone to Rhema for our big fireworks show. They have the blow up jupiter jump deals, pony rides, car show, concerts and a big display of fireworks - ALL FREE well except the pony rides! The kids love it and because it is a fairly new celebration in town it is less crowded than say for instance the river celebration. I have a feeling eventually it will be just as bad b/c each year more and more people are coming to Rhema. Everybody loves FREE fun for their kids! Anyhow..........we went last night and took my nephew Logan to meet up with my brother Curt and his wife Karen.

Wow Logan looks really white next to my boys!

Having fun in the jupiter jumps! See Elijah flipping while Logan & Zay jump!
The kids went on all of the blow up "rides and slides" then while they were riding the ponies my brother Rob and his family showed up. Martez and Tez went with the guys over to the car show while Karen and I reserved our prime fireworks viewing spot right next to the big playground where the kids played until the fireworks started.

Karen getting the kids to dance w/her during the concerts.

How cute are they?!?!?!

We had so much fun except for when we had to leave and the line out of the parking lot was horrendous! The boys were tired and covered with sand however that didn't inhibit the older boys from staying up until 2am. I now understand how my parents felt when my friends would spend the night. Logan spent the night with us and we got home about 11pm (way past their bedtime) and I sent them straight to bed BUT they just wouldn't stop talking.....until the duct tape......JUST KIDDING PEOPLE........I finally went to bed at 1:45am and gave up on them but I think they went to sleep shortly after that! Boy were they tired the next day at Meme's house! Your welcome Mom!

A TASTE OF SUMMER

All I can say about that picture is it is a dream come true! Imagine Blue Bell Ice Cream trucks all in a row..........outside your house! Gotcha there, huh! Well today we went to "A Taste of Summer" at the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory. Hey fun and all the ice cream you want - who can ask for anything more! The kids played on the jupiter jump deals (why are they everywhere I go!), got to get inside a fire truck and ambulance, toured the factory, got on old tractors with tires almost as big as Daddy, got to get tattoed, made things, got a little gift and ate ice cream. Well of course Elijah didn't b/c he is wierd and doesn't eat ice cream but the rest of us ate our fair share!

He doesn't look it but Elijah was actually happy to get into the fire truck

Weeeeee!

Howdy!

He is so funny!

Trying to catch some raindrops through the umbrella...hmmm!

IDIOTS I TELL YOU

After the Parade we had plans to go with Shan & Quin to the Bixby BBQ and Blues Festival and I must say I will probably not go again and if by chance I do, I will not be taking my children along!!!! I knew it was at Washington Irving Park in Bixby but didn't know where the park was in Bixby. We were driving down Memorial and seen a few signs and Bixby but no straight ahead or turn indicators. At a stop light I decided to just roll down the window and ask someone.
Picture my face: We are at a light. I roll down the window. I wave to the gentlemen in the truck beside us and ask, "Do you live in Bixby?" He said, "Yes!" I asked, "Can you tell me where the BIXBY BBQ and Blues Festival is?" Honest to God he answered with, "I think that is in Okmulgee!" SERIOUSLY DUDE YOU LIVE IN BIXBY AND DON'T KNOW THE BIXBY BBQ AND BLUES FESTIVAL IS ACTUALLY IN BIXBY!!!! IT ISN'T CALLED THE OKMULGEE BBQ AND BLUES FESTIVAL YOU IDIOT!!!!!!! HE DOESN'T HAVE THAT LITTLE THING CALLED COMMON SENSE I GUESS!!! This was the first thought in my head but I calmly said, "Do you know where Washington Irving Park is?" He replies with "Yes it is straight ahead a ways then on the right." We find the festival then go in and ask the INFORMATION BOOTH where to go and all I am going to say is the "INFORMATION BOOTH" was not informative as well the website with all the "misprinted" information! I am not going to get into all the details because it was a long day and it will just tick me off! Just know I will probably not return to the festival and may not even return to the town of the pokes!

INDEPENDENCE DAY

Happy July 4th to all! Hope you all had a safe and happy 4th! We went to my nephews' Noah and Nehemiah birthday party and watched the Rhema fireworks. On the 4th we had friends over and did our own little show! Zaya is afraid of the fireworks now that he can actually hear them....he used to love them but then again he couldn't hear then.
