PHOTOSTORY FRIDAY: FALL FUN AND PAIN AT THE ZOO

Hosted by Cecily and Kelli   Last week the kids were out of school for three days.  Besides pumpkin painting....that's a whole other story.....we went to the zoo with my friend Tammy and her son John plus I also took Avani and Addison along. 
Am I crazy?

I believe so after this!

 Of course, I took plenty pictures of animals but I got some really good kid shots then I played on Picnik so that is what you are going to get!! 

 
 
 
 Except for this cute little guy....I didn't play with this picture but I like this picture because he kept checking me out through the corner of his eye as if to say, "Are you lookin' at me?"
 
 
 
 Our usual "Monkey see, monkey do!" picture at the zoo.  I don't know why I always take so many of these or why I love them so but I just do!
 Sweet little Addison!  I love this picture!  It appears that she is looking at something but I think she was getting bored since we stayed by the otters for awhile!  Then after I shot this she did......

What a beautiful two teeth smile!!I swear her eyes just light up!
 Then came the funniest part of the day.  The kids were looking through the children's petting zoo when Tammy and I said, "Oh kids look over here!  You will have to look really hard for this one!"  They looked, searched and pointed out non-existent animals when they asked what exactly they were looking for to which John reads the sign beside them, "It is a temporarily vacant!"  They didn't have a clue what that meant so they kept looking while Tammy & I snapped pictures and laughed!!

Then came the traumatic portion of the trip!  The zoo was full of bees.  By full I mean they were overtaking the place!  Everywhere you walked there were bees especially if you walked near a patch of flowers or a trash can.  They would just land on us like they were welcome.  This made me extrememly nervous since Avani is allergic and we forgot her epipen and by we I mean her mother!  I could see it now either her struggling to breath or a scene out of Pure Luck with Martin Short but only Avani's face swelling like a balloon.  I took lunches and sat down at a table without bees swarming around......or so I thought.  I get the kids all arranged then sit down to feed Addy when I hear screams.  Then Isaiah screamed like I don't think I've ever heard him scream.
 Picture this:  Isaiah screaming while Avani, John and Elijah scream and run in all different directions.  I am trying to figure out what just happened and Addison with the rest of the zoo guests look at us like we have totally lost our minds!  All of this while Tammy is inside buying food for her and John.
 I figure out a bee stung Isaiah on his ear!  Poor kid and those ears!  I try my best to calm and organize with absolutely NO luck!  Bees still swarming, kids still screaming, Isaiah wailing, Addy and the zoo guests are still looking at me like we've lost our minds.  At this point, I think I did!  I scream at the kids to get their food and go inside while grabbing a screaming Zay and trying to push Addy in the stroller. 
 Did anyone ask me if I needed help? 
 NO!Nope not one single heartless person!  Jerks!Let's see you be calm with 3 scared kids, 1 wailing in pain and 1 in a stroller still looking at us like we are nuts.....five count them FIVE KIDS and one me!  I was totally outnumbered and should really think of this BEFORE an outing!  I WILL REMEMBER THIS....SURE HOPE YOU HEARTLESS JERKS DON'T GET STUNG TOO BECAUSE I AM TAKING THE LAST TWO TABLES INDOORS!
 Finally once inside a worker asks me about the commotion and calls security and medical over to check on the bee sting boy!  He cried and cried and just when I thought he would be ok he would let out a scream then cry some more!  I seriously wondered if he would even let me put him down long enough to get to the car if needed.  Finally after 30-45 minutes, we coaxed him back outside with...."When a bee stings you, it dies.  All the other bees see this and will never sting you while you are here because they don't want to die too!"  Total crap but it worked!   "Please Lord, don't let him get stung again or I will never hear the end of it!"  Yep I prayed right after lying to my son!
 He wore a light jacket with a hood and let me tell you this.....that kid wore the hood the entire rest of our trip at the zoo and held it with his hands so NO bees could get in!  I didn't tell him they don't always sting ears and could very well just stink him in the face because remember "all the other bees aren't going to sting him"!  Just when I thought he was over it and would let go of the hood.....he would grab it again 2 seconds later....poor guy!  Still cute though....
 
 Don't you think so?If you don't, then don't answer!!
 Finally time for pics with the turtle....
 The boys were a little uncooperative but Avani my little model posed and posed..and of course I played around on Picnik again....
 They even have a "Go pink!" effect for Breast Cancer Awareness month!

MR MOODY AND MR COOL

HE MUST BE RELATED TO STEVE IRWIN!

Elijah is a nature boy!

He is always catching moths, butterflies, ladybugs, roly polies and frogs basically if it crawls, jumps, flies or hops and it is supposed to live outside, it ends up in his hands and into our home!

I hate fully support his love of all things nature even when he is uprooting the ugly railroad ties beautiful edging surrounding my flower beds in search of bugs to kill by taking them out of their natural habitat keep in one of his many bug houses!

One thing you can count on with Elijah is IF he isn't searching through dirt or bushes for random creatures then he is in a tree somewhere!!

Once spring starts this boy is outside more than he is inside. He catches hundreds of frogs insisting to keep each one. I totally manipulate the situation remind him that Steve Irwin would want him to release the creatures back into the wild and after quite an argument by him that this one will live he usually gives in.

He even trains them to do the ever elusive hop over my hand trick which coincidentally frogs are quick to learn after a little nudge on the rear!!

UH-OH ISAIAH NEEDS ANATOMY 101 TOO!

Just a little bit ago Isaiah got into trouble by jumping on his bed.

He is a repeat offender!

It doesn't matter how many times he falls and hurts himself ~ he is an addict!

After this session he came running into my room saying, "Mommy feel my heart! It is beating weally fast!"

He makes this statement with his hand firmly planted on his belly-button!!

I laughed hysterically just thinking about my Anatomy 101 post!!

PHOTOSTORY FRIDAY

I haven't done Photostory Friday in awhile even with my best intentions so this week I AM DOING IT! While I had this post planned because spring is on the way, our forecast for tomorrow is snow! Seriously! Ugh.....I hate winter! Where is that stupid groundhog? Has he ever predicted an early spring? Just when the 70s and 80s were settling in, I began to wear flip flops and the boys sported their shorts....

.....days of wind, rain, cold temps and NOW snow!

Gotta love Oklahoma weather!

Welllll I was anticipating spring and getting ready to clean up the yard and prepare it for flowers in the next few weeks but now I will be behind closed doors until all remnants of winter have dissolved!!

The boys love to help with the flowers.

Isaiah has loved to water the flowers since he learned to walk.

I don't know if he justs likes getting wet......

....or drinking from the hose!!

He makes sure to get each flower!

He just loves to take care of the flowers!

PHOTOSTORY/FLASHBACK FRIDAY

Pride in toddlers is just the cutest!
Feb 2007 ~ (almost 2) I saw this and thought 'Now let's not notice the food all over his shirt, the one pants leg up, the untied shoe and complete ignore the fact that he is standing on the trunk in the living room and just go get the camera!' So I did just that! Although this is not allowed, he was so so proud of his achievement and his excitement was just too cute to pass up.

He showed off a little and looked oh so cute doing it! THEN what do you do when Daddy reaches his big strong arms out to get you...........
JUMP!!
Then over and over while laughing and Mommy taking picture after picture UNTIL...................

Mommy spoils all the fun and makes him stop! Look at those eyes ~ he was crushed! Now some might say I shouldn't have allowed it in the first place but he was irresistible standing there so proud but I needed to stop it so it wouldn't become a habit! Oh the joys of motherhood! I love this boy either way proud or with the boo boo lip!

HILARIOUS MUST READ POST

Today I got a comment from Jenners at Live with a Little One and More and decided to go check out her blog. I am so glad I did because I read her Photostory Friday post from last week and it was LAUGH OUT LOUD funny. I was crying because I was laughing so hard plus I was at work where people wondered why payroll was so funny ~ oops! So funny that I read it three times and commented twice! It wasn't JUST the pics I found funny but the commentary to go with the pics HI-LAR-I-OUS!!!! Gotta go read this one if you haven't already!!

PHOTOSTORY FRIDAY: ANATOMY 101

Hubs needs a course to Human Anatomy pronto!! Hubs should not watch the news ~ any new medical info or tragic stories he wonders if he has it! Mild hypochondriac but at least he doesn't take it much past the fear stage. He doesn't go to get checked out for everything he sees but instead wonders! I just so happen to have a few examples that I am going to share with the entire blogosphere!!

Example #1

After watching the local news present a story about the trials of ovarian cancer we had the following conversation:

Hubs: Oooo Angela get off the computer and come look at this!

Me: What?

Hubs: It is a story on ovarian cancer.

Assuming he wants me to see the story for my own ovarian health, I turn blogger off *sniff*sniff* then join him in the living room to learn about his heart felt concerns for my health! We watch the story THEN HE SAYS:

Hubs: Wow that is terrible I hope I don't have that!

Me: Laughing too uncontrollably to talk, coughing, tears falling down my cheeks, more laughing and coughing!

Hubs: What's so funny? That is no laughing matter!

Me: I think the odds of you getting OVARIAN cancer is umm.....ZERO!!

Hubs: You don't know this!

Me: Yep just another case where I know I'm right since MEN DON'T HAVE OVARIES!!!

Before he was actually diagnosed (by someone other than his wife who told him he had diabetes for almost 3 months) with diabetes, he was having random sharp or shooting pains. We later found out this was part of the diabetes and nothing to worry about but before our fears were calmed he constantly wondered what they were. Obviously he wasn't worried enough to seek medical advice but hey he is a man after all! One evening it went a little something like this:

Hubs: Ouch! Man that hurt!

Loving amazing wife aka me: What's wrong?


Hubs: What did it feel like when YOU had appendicitis?


Loving amazing wife aka me: Why? Where are you hurting?

Hubs pointing to his left side by his ribs: Right under here!

Loving amazing wife aka me: Well I am not sure what exactly is hurting you but it's not your appendix.


Hubs: You think you know everything!


Loving amazing wife shows off anatomical knowledge: Well since your appendix is on the LOWER part of your torso on the RIGHT I am about 100% sure YOU do NOT have appendicitis BUT if YOU need to see MY appendectomy scar to be sure then go right ahead or better yet go to the hospital holding your left chest area and tell them you think you have appendicitis. I will take you personally just to see the look on their faces!!!

Example #3

The most recent and most hilarious to me

Yesterday while waiting to be called at the doctor's office he leans to me and says, "Someone mentioned I should have my thyroid checked out too. Does that have something to do with diabetes?" I say, "I don't think so but I don't know much yet so I am not sure."

Fast forward to later on into the evening!

Hubs has been sitting on the couch then falls asleep. He gets up to go to bed and leans over saying, "OH WOW MY "THIGH"ROID HURTS!"

I look at him bewildered and concerned to see him bent over holding and massaging his THIGH!!

Laughter, coughing, crying and gagging ensues!

Hubs: It's not funny! It really hurts! (while still rubbing his thigh with his face straining)

Me: Laughter, coughing, crying and gagging continues to the point that I have to leave the room because I can't bear to look at him without laughing. I am unable to utter a single word!!

Hubs: As serious as can be....I don't see what is so funny! We should have had the new doctor check my thyroid!....while still rubbing his thigh.

Me: Still laughing and trying to catch my breath.

Hubs: You are starting to tick me off! What is so freaking funny!

Me: Unable to speak for quite sometime!

Hubs goes to bed upset ~ now he knows better than that!!

Me: Random laughter at the thought of his "thigh"roid pains and leg rubbing hops onto the computer

Hubs: Can you tell me now why my serious thyroid pain was so humorous?

Me: Your thyroid is NOT in your THIGH.....laughter...... it is in your neck/throat area!

PHOTOSTORY FRIDAY: A LOVE AFFAIR WITH EYEWEAR!

This boy has a LOVE for eyewear.......ANY EYEWEAR and he is HERE today to strut his stuff!

Our little model can be seen here wearing his older brother's highly-fashionable, neon-flashing, Ninja Turtle-talking glasses at the age of 18 months! Yes he started early folks our little fashioniste (I know it is supposed to be fashionista but I think his Daddy might hurt someone for calling his baby boy a fashionista ~ so bear with me!)

At almost two he revealed his own fashion statement by wearing these very in style glasses upside down!!

Yes baby we see you! Seen here with his highly fashionable, green and yellow Sesame Street binoculars, our boy is too cute out on his first one-on-one date with his love Q! He took her to eat at Zio's not at all decided by their Mothers then out to see Sesame Street Live. The first MANY attempts by the two of them to use the binoculars and actually share the binoculars were unsuccessful since they both had them turned the wrong way!

One of my favorites! Our model is now wearing oversized swim goggles! Hey supermodels and celebrities are seen the world over wearing those HUGE sunglasses that take up half of their face so he is just jumping on the fashion bandwagon. This was taken this past summer while at our friend's birthday party ~ the same swim party where she told the boys just to pee in the bushes so they wouldn't track water through the house. Bad mistake! Huge! Isaiah loved this theory and proceeded to pee in the bushes about every 5 minutes! Trust me ~ I took plenty of those pictures especially when he couldn't pull up his wet swim trunks and would waddle over with them around his ankles to a crowd of people just so I pull them up! Being the nice Mommy, I pulled them up each time........after I put the camera down and quit laughing!!

Just weeks ago for Christmas Isaiah got his very own talking, noise making and too big for his head racing helmet! Now he doesn't have to make ALL of his own sound effects while running through the house driving his imaginary race car!

AND THE END OF THE WORLD MONUMENTAL FIT THROWN THIS MORNING WAS FOR THESE:

Our little GQ boy may appear happy in his superstar glasses; however, at 7:10am this morning it was quite another story as he couldn't find his "star swungwasses" anywhere. You can see why he was so upset b/c he looks too darn cute in them!
